A wooden garden shed has many advantages: wood is a renewable raw material and therefore particularly sustainable. In addition, it can be harmoniously integrated into the garden. Karibu garden tool sheds are made of Nordic spruce, a durable material that is suitable for outdoor weather and hardly absorbs moisture. However, in order for the garden shed to last even longer, it should stand on a stable foundation or a dry surface made of floor slabs.

There are some important considerations when buying a wooden tool shed: First, the desired size should be determined. Do you only want to store garden tools or also bicycles and children's vehicles? How much space is available in the garden?

For smaller tool sheds up to approx. 5 sqm, a wall thickness of 14 mm is usually sufficient. However, if the tool shed is to be larger or also serve as a recreation room or for overwintering plants, a thicker wall thickness is recommended.

The permitted height of a tool shed varies depending on the federal state. In most cases, garden sheds from 2.50 m or 3 m are subject to approval. The Karibu garden sheds are less than 2.50 m high and therefore usually comply with the regulations, but prior consultation with the building authority is recommended.

There are differences depending on the federal state: In Bavaria, Brandenburg and North Rhine-Westphalia, garden sheds up to 75 cubic metres are exempt from a permit, in Rhineland-Palatinate from 50 cubic metres onwards, and in other federal states there are various area and height restrictions. In many federal states, garden sheds that do not require a permit may run a maximum of 9 metres along the neighbouring border. Development plans may also contain additional regulations.

To ensure that your wooden garden shed remains beautiful for a long time, it should be treated with an impregnating primer and a wood preservative before assembly. Open-pored glazes are particularly suitable, as they allow the wood to "breathe" and protect it from the effects of the weather. The paints should be refreshed regularly.

Make sure to plant shrubs and plants at a distance of about two meters so that the wood is optimally ventilated and no moisture damage occurs.
