The height of the kW reflects the performance of a sauna heater. In Karibu, you will find sauna heaters with different performance levels, each of which meets certain requirements and Individual requirements in order to be able to fully develop their performance.

Sauna heater with 3.6 kW

Sauna heaters with 3.6 kW are so-called plug & play models. Such a sauna heater is especially suitable for a small Home sauna and suitable for sauna beginners, with larger saunas or garden saunas the power is not sufficient to achieve appropriate sauna temperatures. The advantages of a 3.6 kW electric heater for a sauna are that it can be easily connected to a normal socket and is particularly energy-saving.

Sauna heater with 4.5 kW

The 4.5 kW sauna heater is in the middle of the field with its performance. It is a high-voltage furnace that must be connected by an electrician. A 4.5 kW sauna heater is suitable for sauna cabins up to a maximum of 5.5 m³ and easily achieves a heating capacity of 100 °C.

One 9 kW sauna heater offers the best heating performance and is therefore also suitable for a larger sauna from 5.5 m³ and for a Garden sauna recommended. These heaters can reach up to 110 °C as a heating power, so that even sauna lovers can enjoy appreciating the particularly high temperatures. The different models - How to find the perfect electric sauna heater for your needs

At Karibu, there are many different sauna heater models for every taste. Before buying a sauna heater, it should be carefully considered what requirements are placed on the desired model.

The 230 V sauna heater (Plug & Play)

A popular entry-level model is a 230 V Plug & play sauna heater. Especially if you want to try out the sauna first, such a sauna heater is recommended. It does not have to be connected by an electrician, but a household socket is sufficient. Combined with a small sauna cabin, you are choosing an ideal entry-level model with our 230 V Plug & Play sauna heater.

The 400 V sauna heater (high voltage)

Our 400 V high-voltage furnaces offer more power. You have to be connected by an electrician, but you can easily bring larger saunas and garden saunas to higher temperatures. For a typical Finnish sauna experience, you should opt for a high-voltage heater. For smaller sauna cabins up to 5.5 m3, a high-voltage heater with 4.5 kW is sufficient, for larger saunas and garden saunas, it is better to use sauna heaters with 9 kW.

The combi heater for your sauna

If you like it varied, you should opt for an organic combi oven. With these sauna heaters, you can not only enjoy a Finnish sauna, but also a steam bath in your own sauna. Our bio-combi ovens have an additional evaporator unit that ensures permanently high humidity. In addition to a traditional, hot and dry Finnish sauna, a combi heater can also be used to set a hot steam bath, a herbal steam cure or a moist and warm family bath. For this purpose, combi heaters have an evaporator pocket in the outer rear wall so that the water vapour escapes next to the sauna stones.

A control unit for the perfect temperature

Every sauna heater needs a control unit. In general, there are various variants that are either integrated into the sauna heater or connected outside the sauna cabin. For a bio combi stove, a special control unit must be selected, which can be used to operate the evaporator unit in addition to temperature and sauna lighting. Premium control units also have a multilingual menu, parental control and lifeguard setting. To make the choice as easy as possible for you, you will also find offers with oven and control unit in the set at Karibu.

FAQ

Why is the right choice of a sauna heater so important?

A sauna heater has different tasks: It has to heat up the sauna cabin and reheat it during the sauna when the temperature drops. In order to maintain the feeling of well-being during the entire sauna session, the sauna heater must not be too strong or too weak. This is the only way to offer a constantly pleasant temperature. In general, the larger the sauna cabin is and the higher sauna temperatures are to be achieved, the more powerful the stove must be. Especially with a garden sauna, care must be taken to have a stove with high power, as the sauna is outdoors and therefore has to be heated from very low temperatures in the cooler seasons.

How many kW does a sauna heater have to have?

How many kW the sauna heater needs depends on various factors:

For small entry-level models, a Plug & Play oven with 3.6 kW as it can be easily plugged into a standard socket. However, with such an electric sauna heater, a sauna temperature of up to 80 °C can only be achieved.

One High-voltage furnace with 4.5 kW reaches temperatures of up to 100 °C. However, a sauna size of 5.5 m3 should not be exceeded. High-voltage furnaces must be connected by an electrician.

One High-voltage furnace with 9 kW even reaches temperatures of up to 110 °C. Therefore, such a heater is also suitable for sauna sizes over 5.5 m3 and for garden saunas. This high-voltage furnace must also be installed by an electrician.

How quickly does a sauna heat up?

An energy-efficient plug & play sauna heater heats an average sauna cabin to 80 °C in one hour. If you don't want to wait that long or want a typical Finnish sauna temperature of 100 to 110 °C, you should opt for a more powerful sauna heater that brings the cabin to the desired temperature faster. To control the temperature, we offer our Sauna Accessories also offers a special sauna thermometer or measuring stations with several functions.

How much electricity does a sauna need?

The larger the sauna, the more powerful the stove must be and the higher the electricity consumption. An example: A sauna is regularly used twice a week for 40 minutes and needs 20 minutes to heat up each time. This means that the usage time is two hours per week. If the sauna has an output of 9 kW, the consumption is 18 kWh per week. Plug & Play stoves with an output of 3.6 kW, which can be connected to a normal 230-volt socket, are more energy-efficient. With a usage and heating time of 2 hours per week, the energy consumption here is only 7.2 kWh per week. However, such heaters are only suitable for smaller sauna cabins and reach a maximum sauna temperature of 80 °C.
