Corporate Forest Karibu

Karibu Holztechnik GmbH is a company specializing in the construction of Garden sheds , Sauna , Carports , Children's play equipment and many other high-quality wood products.

As part of its commitment to sustainability, Karibu Holztechnik GmbH supports the planting of new trees in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The Karibu Forest

This project is located in Einbeck in southern Lower Saxony. The area was previously used for agriculture and is now being brought back to a natural state thanks to the support of Karibu Holztechnik GmbH. In addition to the integration of carbon dioxide, this new forest has numerous other positive effects. The project is integrated into a school forest project and thus serves sustainable education. The great diversity of tree species also makes a strong contribution to increasing biodiversity.

Planting new trees

Together with Planet Tree, Karibu Holztechnik GmbH planted 3,000 trees in the forests of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the occasion of its 30th anniversary. Environment at Karibu

Karibu garden systems are based on the natural raw material wood. From the fascination of the properties of wood as a material, Karibu constantly develop new wood products for well-being, adapted to our lifestyles, with the know-how from more than 100 years of experience in wood processing. As a natural product, wood has the property that it stores moisture. As a result, the wood shrinks and cracks form over the course of dry periods. This is a completely normal process and therefore not a reason for complaint.

Wood is a renewable raw material. With the lowest production energy requirement, wood optimally combines ecological, building biology and economic advantages. The quality of Karibu products begins with the careful selection of the right material. We use uniformly sorted spruce wood from the forests of Northern Europe. In short summers and long, cold winters, the wood grows extremely slowly. This results in very narrow growth rings, which give the wood particularly hard and resistant properties.

PEFC CERTIFIED (PROGRAMME FOR THE ENDORSEMENT OF FOREST CERTIFICATION SCHEMES)

In 1993, a group of timber traders and representatives of the climate and human rights organization decided that it was necessary to create an honest and credible system for labeling ecologically responsible forest management. This basic idea gave rise to a set of basic rules and criteria that a company must meet in order to be PEFC certified. This ensures that the end consumer can follow the path of his product through completion, production, to the origin, i.e. to the forest in which the tree used was felled. We, Karibu Holztechnik GmbH, as well as our wood suppliers and the planing mills that supply the raw material for our products, are PEFC certified. This means that we can guarantee that our products, which are labelled as "PEFC certified", come from sustainable and ecologically friendly forestry.

Resource-saving shipping

Together with its partners, Karibu is committed to shipping that is as resource-efficient as possible. Together with the GLS parcel shipping in 2020 we have worked on the program GLS Klimaprotect . The CO₂ emissions generated during shipping are offset by investments in forest protection and reforestation projects. The reuse of raw materials is an essential part of our efforts to work in the most resource-efficient way possible. For this reason, we shred used cardboard to produce filling material for our packages. In addition, we use the DHL GoGreen Plus shipping program for some of our shipments. This programme supports measures to reduce and offset transport emissions.
