Karibu warranty conditions

Dear customer,

You have decided to buy a Karibu quality product. Your product has left our factory after careful inspection and final inspection.

The company Karibu Holztechnik GmbH therefore grants you the following on the products advertised with the warranty:

  • 5-year warranty on the construction of wood products,
  • 2-year warranty on the paint system,
  • 5-year warranty on the rust penetration of metal houses.

The period for calculating the warranty period begins on the date of invoice. We will provide you with free replacement and delivery of the defective parts within the warranty period under this warranty. Any (labor) costs incurred by you as a result of the replacement are not covered by the warranty claim.
Warranty services can only be claimed if the original packing slip and the original proof of purchase (copy of invoice) are sent. We must be able to check the warranty claim (e.g. by sending photos of the defective product parts).

Legal warranty:

Our warranty does not restrict your statutory rights in the event of defects and can be claimed by you free of charge. This guarantee therefore does not affect any existing statutory warranty rights. Your legal status is extended by this warranty.
If the purchased product is defective, you can contact us in any case within the scope of the statutory warranty, regardless of whether there is a warranty claim or whether the warranty is claimed by you.

The warranty excludes defects caused by:

  • Any use of the material that does not comply with our instructions
  • Failure to follow the care instructions and resulting deficiencies
  • Damage due to improper or abusive handling during and after assembly work
  • Improper foundations and foundations
  • On-site changes to the product
  • Wind speed above force 7, natural disasters or other violent effects
  • Snow loads: approx. 75 kg/m² / approx. 125 kg/m² (depending on product)
  • commercial use

WOOD PRODUCTS

Warranty Exclusions:

  • Changes in gloss and colour tone during weathering must be accepted according to the state of the art (e.g. discolouration of knots),
  • Damage caused by large open joints and cracks (e.g. shrinkage cracks in knots),
  • Surface disturbances due to resin flow from the wood,
  • Damage caused by force majeure, mechanical effects (e.g. improper use, hail),
  • Damage caused by sharp edges on profiles.

Other exclusions:

  • Inadequate care of the wood
  • Faulty wood preservative coating
  • Wood damage/discoloration due to insufficient ventilation
  • Changes that are part of the natural properties of the wood, such as colour changes, falling out knots, resin galls, warping, non-continuous cracks
  • Failure to maintain a minimum distance of 2 m around the product for plantings with a height of 10 cm or more. This serves to ensure sufficient ventilation.
  • Failure to maintain a minimum distance of at least 10 cm from the ceiling and walls in indoor saunas/infrared cabins. This serves to ensure sufficient ventilation.

The following care instructions must be observed:

  • The wood must not be exposed to the blazing sun or persistent moisture before and during installation.
  • For products that are not pressure-impregnated, you must apply a blue stain barrier primer before assembly and then a double protective coat (an open-pored wood protection glaze). You should repeat a protective coat every two years at the latest.
  • In the case of coloured and pressure-impregnated components, only the natural parts of the wood (saw cuts) and parts need to be post-treated.

Additional warranty conditions for products treated with the paint system

When processing the products according to the assembly recommendation and compliance with the warranty conditions, we guarantee during the warranty period of 2 years that:

  • the wood does not turn grey,
  • the coating does not flake off over a large area (EN ISO 4628-5 characteristic value 3),
  • no rot damage to the wood occurs,
  • no elaborate renovation paint is necessary.

In order to benefit from this guarantee for products treated with the colour system, the following must be respected:

  • The profiled timber must be installed with sufficient rear ventilation (DIN 18516).
  • The cut surfaces and end-grain wood surfaces must be sealed by painting 2 times with the respective top coat.
  • All nails, screws or staples exposed to the weather must be sealed once with the respective topcoat after installation.

To be taken into account by the customer:

Once a year, the surface must be checked for mechanical damage such as hail. Any damaged areas must be repaired immediately to avoid major consequential damage. Wooden components must be regularly cared for and maintained.

METAL HOUSES

The warranty is only valid under the following conditions:

  • The water can drain off the sheets unhindered.
  • Dirt and other deposits are regularly removed professionally.
  • No contact with wet concrete, wet wood, pressure-impregnated wood, soil and constant humidity areas.
  • No contact with copper or liquid emissions from copper components.
  • No chemical stress, such as contact with fertilizers.
  • The sheets are used under normal atmospheric conditions...
  • Immediate post-treatment of mechanical damage to the paint coating, for example during installation, with repair paint.
  • Metal shavings must be removed after assembly.
  • The processing of sheet metal parts by thermal or heating processes (e.g. welding, soldering, flame cutting, cut-off grinding) is not permitted.
  • The assembly was carried out professionally according to our assembly instructions.
  • We cannot give any guarantee on third-party products and their reaction with/to our material.

The following care instructions must be observed:

  • Do not work with solvent-based or abrasive cleaning agents, but use mild soapy water with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
  • The products must be regularly cleaned of dirt and fouling
