Winterize the wooden pool
Winterizing the wooden pool: How it works
As a rule, there are two important dates in the year for the pool in your own garden: Preparing for summer and the follow-up and cleaning for the winter time. When autumn is just around the corner and the pool season is coming to an end, the wooden pool should be winterized early. How to prepare your Wooden pool optimally prepares for the winter and protects frost-sensitive pool parts:
- Cleaning the wooden pool
Tackle any limescale and algae deposits with a soft brush. If leaves have sunk to the bottom of the pool in autumn, they must also be removed. Otherwise, mud can form in the water. - Lowering the water level
Empty the pool about ten centimeters below the skimmer, i.e. up to about a third below the usual waterline. For this purpose, you can use a submersible pump or set the multi-port valve of the sand filter system to "empty" without switching on the pump. The pool water is then drained by gravity. For reasons of statics, we recommend that you do not empty the water completely under any circumstances. - Prepare pool water
Add an algae control agent and a hibernation agent to the pool water. They keep the water clear and clean throughout the winter. You can then add an ice protection pad or ice remover to the water to counteract a closed ice cover in frost. If too much pressure is applied to the pool walls, damage can occur to the pool liner and the pool wall. - Protect filters and skimmers from frost
Empty and clean all pipes and the filter system completely. Allow all parts to dry carefully and store them frost-free. For the exact procedure for emptying the filter system, please refer to the detailed manufacturer's instructions. Also remove the stainless steel boarding ladder and store it. - Safely cover wooden pool
Cover the pool with the matching winter tarpaulin and tighten it with a tension cord and tensioner. This prevents dust and dirt from getting into the water. The tarpaulin still does not allow any light to pass through so that no algae can thrive in the water. The matching tarpaulin for the wooden pool is available here in the shop in two different sizes.
