Wooden pool construction
Build your own wooden pool: These are our assembly tips
DIY builders can assemble the wooden pool sets from Karibu quickly and easily with a little manual skill. We explain what to look out for.
Tip: Storage of the set before assembly
If your wooden pool has been conveniently delivered to your home, you should note for the time before setting up your set: The wood must not be exposed to blazing sun or persistent moisture before and during assembly. If waterlogging occurs, it can lead to blue stain, mold or fungal infestation. If it is exposed to blazing sun for too long, discoloration or warping can occur.
This tool is needed for the Karibu wood pool
Have the following utensils ready for setting up your wooden pool:
- Cordless screwdrivers and Phillips screwdrivers
- Wood drill bits
- Rubber mallet/hammer
- Fine saw
- Cutter knife/scissors
- Folding rule
- Spirit Level
- Tape measure
- Pencil
Prepare the ground for the wooden pool and create the foundation
The footprint of the pool is ideally located on natural ground. Filled soils must be compacted in advance so that the pool cannot sink in later. It is also important to note: Wooden pool must stand free. This means that the pool walls must not be filled with earth or used as a support for a slope. In the event of groundwater or layered water, drainage must also be laid. The pool must also not be able to be washed out by rainwater. Therefore, it is important to prepare the subsoil of the pool particularly carefully. Only then can the accuracy of fit of the individual parts be guaranteed during assembly. If there are problems with the construction, this ultimately shows up in the lack of stability and durability of the pool as a whole. For these reasons, we recommend using a Slab or concrete foundation . The foundation slab should be slightly larger than the underlay plan. To provide splash protection, it should also be placed at least ten centimetres higher than the ground.
This is how you can build your foundation yourself with a little skill and physical effort:
Slab foundation
A slab foundation is a particularly simple method to create a solid base for the pool:
- First, the base is about 25 centimeters deep plus ten centimeters.
- Now fill this area about ten centimeters high with gravel and then with a thin layer of sand.
- Now you can lay the paving stones. These must be aligned correctly, check this with a spirit level.
- Finally, fill the joints of the paving stones with sand. At the edges, a mortar support can help stabilize the slab foundation.
Concrete floor slab
A concrete foundation is considered particularly stable. The load of the pool is thus evenly distributed over the entire surface of the foundation.
- Remove the base of the pool by about 30 centimeters and add another ten centimeters on all sides.
- The formwork can then be set with wooden boards. To align them correctly, use a spirit level.
- Now a cleanliness layer of masonry concrete (C8/10) of five to ten centimetres is being poured. Alternatively, a layer of gravel or sand about 15 centimeters thick can be applied for this purpose.
- Lay a separating layer, for example made of PE foil, and finally insert reinforcement meshes to prevent cracks in the concrete.
- Now the concrete is applied about 15 centimeters thick and pulled off horizontally with the help of a smoothing disc.

Attention:
- A power connection must also be laid before assembly. However, the junction box must be located at a distance of 3.50 metres from the pool and protected from splashing water by a cover.
- Please take a look at the special product features of the pool first! It may be that some of the pillars of the pool have to be concreted in - this must be taken into account during the foundation planning and taken into account accordingly.
Tips for assembling the pool kit
First, check the included assembly instructions to see if your material is complete. Then set up the pool according to the illustrated instructions:
First, assemble the planks with double tongue and groove and spring in an octagonal shape. The corner joints of the planks are milled in the classic way like in a log house and are therefore simply plugged on top of each other.
The set also includes a floor protection fleece and the 1.2 millimetre thick, hard-wearing pool liner with suspension piping. This is hooked directly into the suspension profile. Attention: To ensure that the pool liner, which is made of thermoplastic material, is not damaged during installation, it is essential to do so at an outside temperature of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. Also, do not hang the foil in blazing sunlight. Also important: The skimmer is always installed on the windward side.

You can find all detailed information on how to set up your wooden pool in the included assembly instructions.
If it is already clear during the construction of the pool that children are also allowed to splash around in it, an appropriate design with pool alarm and child safety should be thought of right away. You can find more information in the article " Making the pool childproof ".
