The not-so-evil dragon

The vicious dragon who wasn't so vicious!

The strong and honorable knights Tim and Daniel have actually slept peacefully when they are suddenly woken up by raging noise. Men and women ran through the corridors, shouted loudly and did not stop. Actually, the two brothers wanted to sleep on and ignore the whole thing, but then the door slammed open with a loud thunder and the two boys were suddenly standing horizontally in bed. "WE ARE BEING ATTACKED!" shouted the knight, who had just stormed into the room. "FROM A DRAGON!". Tim and Daniel looked at each other ar, wasn't so angry!, and immediately jumped up to put on their armor. When they arrived at the large square of the knight's castle, they saw him. A huge, fire-breathing dragon that was about to attack the castle. It was much more frightening in real life than in the books the two brothers read. It is the first time they have seen such a large being. But that didn't stop her from immediately climbing the next top of the castle. Once up there, Tim stretched his ground directly and aimed at the dragon. Daniel had his sword ready. The plan was intended to lure the dragon away, away from the other citizens. And it worked. When Tim hit the dragon with his arrow, it stopped in flight, turned around and flew directly towards the two knights. Just before he arrived, they ducked so that the dragon missed them.

Then they ran towards the exit of the castle, hoping that the dragon would continue to follow them. And he did. Tim and Daniel had grabbed their horse, sat down and galloped towards the large valley, which was east of the knight's castle. "We're too slow, the dragon is about to catch up with us," said Daniel. "I'll try to stop him with my bow, if he's near the ground, then you'll attack him," Tim shouted at him. And so they did. Again and again. But then Daniel noticed that the dragon kept flying towards the two of them and also came very close to them, but never attacked with its big claws. Nor did he breathe fire any more. He always flew in a circle over the two brothers, towards them and then up into the sky again. "Something is wrong here," Daniel said at some point. And Tim has also noticed that the dragon behaves more as if he wants to tell the two of them something and not something as if he wants to eat them. In the meantime, the two knights and the dragon had arrived in the valley. Now the suspicion of the two brothers was confirmed. Shortly after they had brought their horses to a standstill, the dragon landed directly in front of them without attacking them. He sat up straight and only looked at the two brothers at first.

It was Tim who was the first to speak: "Tell us, why did you attack our knight's castle first and then lure us here? That doesn't make sense!" Tim's voice sounded a bit confused, because he himself wasn't sure if the dragon would understand him at all. It took a while, but then the dragon actually answered. "My name is Serena. I really want to apologize for attacking your castle. I had no other choice, I urgently need the help of people." "You need our help and that's why you're attacking?" Daniel interrupted the dragon. "I'm very sorry," the dragon repeated, "but I didn't attack people directly and only spat fire in places where it couldn't hurt anyone! And I didn't know how else to lure you into this valley. Because it's like this, I can only talk to people here. And how else could I have told you that I needed your help?" When the knights thought about it, they had to realize that it was really so. When the dragon breathed fire, it was always near the rivers and they didn't see anyone who was injured.

"Well, but what do you need our help for?" Tim asked, still a bit skeptical. "You know, I'm going to be a mother very soon. But my egg rolled into a cave nearby during the last storm. I couldn't stop it. I tried in vain to get it out of the cave again, but my claws are just too big, I can't get through the entrance. I kept watch for two days and kept the cave warm, but I have to take proper care of my child!" Tim and Daniel looked at each other and then back at Serena. The mother dragon hung her head dejectedly and looked very desperate. Then the brothers looked at each other again and both laughed. Serena looked up in surprise. "I think we should get to the cave quickly!" said Daniel. Tim nodded in agreement. "Oh thank you very much, really, I can't thank you enough!" the dragon whimpered a little with happiness. When we arrived at the cave, it didn't take long and the dragon's egg was back with its mother. Serena was incredibly happy! "Thank you, my young knights! You saved my little one's life. I am deeply indebted to you. If I can do something for you someday, then tell me. Besides, you are of course always welcome here in this valley." The dragon had not yet finished speaking, when suddenly the shell of the egg cracked open. Tim and Daniel looked at the egg very excitedly. It didn't take long and a small screech sounded. Serena immediately made a small fire around her little offspring, who then snuggled up in the grass and fell asleep again. Daniel and Tim watched the whole thing with excitement and were fascinated by the little dragon. It was slowly getting dark and so the two knights decided to ride home again. They said goodbye to Serena and her little one and promised to come back soon. When they arrived home, all the residents rushed towards the two and wanted to know everything. "Did you kill the dragon?", "Were you able to defeat him?" Tim and Daniel laughed. "No, we didn't beat him. But today we have made two new friends who will join us here on the Knight's Castle !" said the two before they left and shortly afterwards fell into bed with a smile.
